Jesus – The Answer for All People
The State of Michigan is home to over 100 people groups. Presently, our Baptist State Convention of Michigan is working with approximately 18 of these groups. Of the 300 plus churches and missions in our State that are affiliated with us, close to 60 are considered ethnic or language congregations. The largest groups we are reaching are Hispanics, Filipinos and Koreans, but we also have works among the Chinese, Deaf, Arabic, Hungarian, Romanian, Kenyan, French African, Japanese, Portuguese, Hmong, Laotian and International/Multicultural people groups.
One of the interesting facts about Michigan is that it is home to the largest Arabic community in the world outside of the Middle East. This people group is rapidly growing, with its population getting close to the 500,000 mark. This presents a tremendous challenge for Michigan Southern Baptists, to reach this community with the love, compassion, and hope message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Church planting opportunities abound among all these people groups and others we have not reached yet.
