Michigan Southern Baptist Congregations are uniting to "Light Up the Great Lakes State" by praying for God to sweep across Michigan with a church planting movement, by simultaneously planting new churches in each association, and by increasing awareness of and interest in church planting around our state.
OUR MISSION
The Cooperative Missions Ministries of the Baptist State Convention of Michigan exists to assist Michigan Southern Baptist Congregations and Associations in fulfilling the Great Commission, by providing training, resources, counsel, and assistance in church planting, African American and Language Ministries, missions education, and opportunities for community ministries.
OUR FIELD
- 9.8 Million people live in Michigan making it the 8th largest populated state in the United States.
- 30% or over 2.9 million of the people live in multi-housing communities and over 90% of these people do not attend church no matter what their background.
- About 1.5 million are African-American. Over 900 thousand African Americans live in Detroit making it the largest City with an African American majority.
- Over 100 different language groups live in Michigan.
- There are 21 counties in Michigan without any Southern Baptist witness.
